Terms of Service
Last updated: September 15, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Syllab ("Syllab," "we," "us," or "our"), an academic planning application that helps college students organize their syllabi into a semester schedule, assignment tracker, and daily work plan.
By creating an account or using Syllab, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not use the service.
2. Eligibility
Syllab is intended for college students and other adult learners. You must be at least 13 years of age to use the service. If you are under 18, you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
By using Syllab, you represent that you are legally able to enter into a binding agreement and that the information you provide is accurate.
3. Account Creation
To use most features of Syllab, you must create an account using your email address and a password, or by signing in with Google. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account.
You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep your information up to date.
4. Account Security
You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for any use of your account. If you become aware of any unauthorized use of your account, you should contact us immediately. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from unauthorized access to your account.
5. Description of the Service
Syllab provides the following features:
- Upload of syllabi and course files, with AI-powered extraction of assignments, exams, and important course policies.
- An assignment tracker that organizes all your coursework across courses, with due dates, priorities, and progress tracking.
- A built-in calendar with month and week views, color-coded by course.
- Daily work recommendations that suggest what to focus on based on your upcoming deadlines.
- AI-generated study materials, including flashcards and quizzes, created from your uploaded course files.
- An AI Assistant that answers questions about your assignments and schedule.
- A grade calculator to track your course performance.
- Optional LMS integrations with Canvas and Brightspace to synchronize assignments.
Some features are available to all registered users, while others require a paid subscription. The service is provided as an organizational and study aid for your personal academic use.
6. Free Demo / Trial
Syllab offers a limited free demo that allows you to try the syllabus extraction experience without creating an account. This includes a single one-time syllabus upload and extraction.
The free demo is limited in scope and is not a free trial of the full service. It is intended to give you a sense of how Syllab works. You are not entitled to unlimited free access. Continued use of the full service requires creating an account and, for premium features, a paid subscription.
Registered users who have not subscribed may also receive one complimentary syllabus extraction to try the feature. After that, a subscription is required for continued use.
7. Paid Subscriptions
Syllab offers paid subscriptions that unlock premium features, including the calendar, semester view, AI Assistant, settings customization, and LMS integrations.
The following subscription plans are available:
- Monthly plan: $4.99 per month
- Annual plan: $39.99 per year (less than $3.34 per month)
Prices are in US dollars and may be subject to applicable taxes. We may change our pricing in the future, but any change will apply prospectively and will be communicated before it takes effect.
8. Monthly and Annual Plans
The monthly plan is billed every month. The annual plan is billed once per year. Both plans provide access to the same premium features; the difference is the billing frequency and the discount applied to the annual plan.
9. Billing and Automatic Renewal
Subscriptions are billed through Wix Payments (presented as "Base44 Payments") and automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle (monthly or annually) unless you cancel before the renewal date.
By subscribing, you authorize us to charge the recurring subscription fee to your payment method through our payment processor until you cancel. You can view and manage your subscription at any time from the Subscription page within the app.
10. Cancellation
You can cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing cycle — you will continue to have access to premium features until then.
After cancellation, your subscription will not renew. When your current billing cycle ends, your account will revert to the free tier, and premium features will become unavailable.
11. Refunds
[REFUND POLICY TO BE CONFIRMED]
Once a final refund policy is established, this section will be updated to reflect it. If you believe you have been charged in error, please contact us at [PRIVACY EMAIL].
12. User Content
"User Content" means any information, data, files, or materials you upload, enter, or otherwise provide to Syllab, including syllabi, course files, notes, assignment information, and any text you type into the service.
You retain all rights in your User Content. By uploading or entering User Content, you grant Syllab the permission and license necessary to store, process, analyze, organize, transform, and display your content for the purpose of providing the service to you.
We do not claim ownership of your syllabi, course files, or other academic materials. Your User Content remains yours.
You are responsible for ensuring that you have the right to upload any files you provide and that doing so does not violate the rights of any third party.
13. Uploaded Academic Materials
When you upload a syllabus or course file, Syllab processes its content to extract academic information such as assignments, exams, and course policies. The extracted information is stored in your account and used to organize your semester.
You may delete your uploaded files and extracted data at any time. You retain ownership of your uploaded academic materials subject to the license described above, which is limited to providing the service to you.
14. AI-Generated Content
Certain features of Syllab use artificial intelligence to generate or extract information, including:
- Syllabus extraction — identifying assignments, exams, readings, and deadlines from uploaded documents.
- Study material generation — creating flashcards and quizzes from your course files.
- Daily work recommendations — suggesting what to focus on based on your deadlines.
- AI Assistant — answering questions about your assignments and schedule.
AI-generated content is provided as an organizational and study aid. It may contain errors, omissions, or inaccuracies. You should not rely solely on AI-generated information for important academic decisions.
15. Academic Responsibility
You are responsible for verifying important academic information. This includes:
- Assignment dates and deadlines
- Exam dates and times
- Course requirements and grading policies
- Instructor instructions and announcements
- Academic policies and procedures
- Any other important academic information
Syllab is not the official source of your university's course information. If information in the app conflicts with an instructor, university, LMS, or official course document, the official source should be treated as authoritative.
You are solely responsible for meeting your academic obligations. Syllab is a tool to help you stay organized — it is not a substitute for checking your official course materials and following your instructor's guidance.
16. LMS Integrations
Syllab offers optional integrations with Canvas and Brightspace. When you connect an LMS, you authorize Syllab to access certain information from your LMS account (course lists and assignments for Canvas; enrollment information for Brightspace) as described in the Privacy Policy.
These integrations are provided by third-party LMS providers and are subject to their respective terms and availability. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or behavior of third-party LMS services. You can disconnect an LMS integration at any time.
LMS integrations are a premium feature and require an active subscription.
17. Third-Party Services
Syllab relies on the following third-party services to operate:
- Platform and hosting provider: The platform that Syllab is built on provides hosting, database, authentication, and backend infrastructure.
- Payment processor: Wix Payments (Base44 Payments) processes subscription payments.
- AI providers: Third-party AI models power syllabus extraction, study material generation, the AI Assistant, and daily recommendations.
- Authentication provider: Google, when you choose to sign in with Google.
- LMS providers: Canvas and Brightspace, when you choose to connect them.
We are not responsible for the practices or availability of these third-party services. Your use of third-party services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
18. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use Syllab for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
- Attempt to access another user's data, accounts, or information.
- Upload content that you do not have the right to upload or that infringes on others' rights.
- Interfere with or disrupt the service, its servers, or its security features.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or otherwise extract the source code of the service.
- Use the service to cheat on assignments or violate academic integrity policies.
- Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the service in a way that exceeds normal use.
19. Intellectual Property
Syllab, including its design, features, and underlying technology, is owned by [LEGAL BUSINESS NAME] and is protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from the service without our permission.
Your User Content remains your intellectual property, as described in the User Content section.
20. Feedback and Bug Reports
You may submit feedback or bug reports to help us improve Syllab. When you submit a bug report through the in-app feature, we may use the information you provide — including the description, steps to reproduce, and any screenshot you upload — to operate, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve the service.
You grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, and act on the feedback and bug reports you submit for these purposes. We will not claim ownership of the specific content of your feedback, but you acknowledge that we may independently develop similar ideas or features.
21. Service Availability
We strive to keep Syllab available and running smoothly, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to maintenance, updates, or factors outside our control. We are not liable for any downtime or interruption of service.
22. Changes to the Service
We may modify, suspend, or discontinue features of Syllab at any time. If we make significant changes that affect your subscription, we will provide notice where reasonable. We are not liable to you for any modification, suspension, or discontinuance of the service.
23. Suspension / Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or if we believe your activity poses a risk to the service or other users.
You may stop using Syllab and delete your account at any time by contacting us at [PRIVACY EMAIL]. Upon termination, your license to use the service ends, and your premium access will be revoked.
Provisions of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination — including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification — will continue to apply.
24. Disclaimers
Syllab is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We do not guarantee that the service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
AI-generated content may contain errors. The service is an organizational and study aid, not a substitute for official academic information. We do not warrant that the information extracted or generated by Syllab is accurate, complete, or current.
We are not responsible for any academic consequences resulting from your use of the service, including missed deadlines, incorrect dates, or any reliance on AI-generated content.
25. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, [LEGAL BUSINESS NAME] and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, grades, academic standing, or profits, arising out of or related to your use of Syllab.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the service shall not exceed the amount you have paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or ten dollars ($10) if you have not made any purchase.
26. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold [LEGAL BUSINESS NAME] and its affiliates harmless from any claims, damages, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the service, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of any third-party rights.
27. Governing Law / Dispute Terms
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Syllab shall be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
[GOVERNING JURISDICTION TO BE CONFIRMED]
28. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will provide notice within the app or by other reasonable means. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects when the Terms were last revised.
Your continued use of Syllab after a change takes effect constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
